Launch of Sing Barnfield!
Stream launches new music and singing project “Sing Barnfield” at a Community Feast on the Barnfield Estate, Woolwich on Wednesday 22nd July. Barnfield residents are invited to enjoy a barbeque and music, participate in community singing with members of the London Community Gospel Choir, and to find out more about the project.
Over the summer artists Andrea Encinas and Barby Asante will aim to reveal the music at the heart of the Barnfield Estate, by inviting residents of all ages to join them in a range of singing and music activities from traditional music to hip hop poetry, gospel singing to choreographed dance routines, at various locations on the estate. The project will culminate in the production of a unique film and a community performance in late September.
Sing Barnfield is funded by Be Creative Be Well, the arts strand of the London-wide initiative, Well London. Well London works with a number of partners in twenty London neighbourhoods on projects which promote mental health and well-being, use the arts and cultural activities to engage communities, promote access to open spaces and improve healthy eating choices.
