Jayne Murray

Jayne Murray titles her practice 'People Make Places Make People', and she uses a ground-up approach to respond to particular sites and the people that use and inhabit them. Working collaboratively with communities, artists and professionals from other fields, she explores art as an active and inclusive process which can contribute to physical and social regeneration through proposals and strategies for the built environment and community development.

Recent projects include Seen and Heard, Fiveways, Birmingham (commissioned by Optima Housing Association, 2008) where the artist engaged with young people on where they currently play, and with older residents on how the young people are perceived; and The Sunset Camp Project, Weedpatch, California (2008) which centred on exploratory play, place making and learning with migrant children and their families.
