Jan Hendrickse

    Jan Hendrickse is a composer and musician specialising in traditional wind instruments. He works in collaboration with other musicians and has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, as well as creating material for TV, film and theatre.

    He has run education projects for many organisations including the Barbican Centre and the Philharmonia Orchestra, run arts development projects in Tanzania, Gambia, Thailand and Palestine and has been researching trans-cultural arts practice for the Guildhall School of Music

    As a musician, he is very concerned with listening and with the psychological and physiological impacts of sound, and has recently begun to work with the sounds of the urban environment as compositional material.
